SC quashed FIR 12 against HPCA
SC Bench says, “We allow the appeal. But the FIR registered is quashed"
HPCA welcomes the order of Hon’ble Supreme Court and it vindicates our stand. Ultimately truth
prevailed.
Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium is one of picturesque cricket stadium in the world. When HPCA
was trying to bring laurels to Himachal Pradesh, particularly Dharamshala, on the other hand Congress
Govt. was conspiring to fabricate false and politically motivated cases against us.
The previous government has always tried to demean the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and its
members through one way or the other. They registered case after case against HPCA to cause harm to
our reputation. The FIR 12 against HPCA was today quashed by Supreme Court against BJP MP
Anurag Thakur, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and others. A bench of
Justices A K Sikri, Ashok Bhushan and Ajay Rastogi said, "We allow the appeal. But the FIR
registered is quashed". The FIR 12 was registered by the Dharamshala office of the Vigilance Bureau
on August 1, 2013, just months after the Congress government came into power in December 2012.
The case was related to alleged irregularities in granting land on lease for construction of the Cricket
Stadium in Dharamshala which proved to be just another bogus allegation by the former Himachal
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and the then previous Congress Government. From the time of
inception of the stadium and till date, HPCA has done some remarkable ground work in the field of
cricket to bring out the talent from the grass root level. From building stadiums in Bilaspur, Gumma,
Una and Amtar (which are fully functioning), opening of cricket sub-centers in every district under
Mission 70, cricket academies to nurture the enthusiastic boys and girls and hosting international
cricket matches; HPCA has always tried to make India and Himachal proud.
There was a time when children used to just dream of playing on a proper pitch and wear jersey to play
cricket. HPCA has made that wish of children come true by providing the facilities of sub-centers and
academies to them. Not only these children are taking full advantage of these facilities, but they are
also performing outstanding under the guidance of best coaches who further get the chance to play in
the district tournaments.
Dharamshala Cricket Stadium has not only given boost to cricket but has also increased the inflow of
tourists and revenue growth in Himachal, particularly Distt. Kangra. And one of the major reasons of
recognition of Dharamshala on the international map is the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium.
No matter how many times HPCA has been oppressed, but the truth always prevails and justice has
been served over the mala fide intentions brought by the previous government over HPCA.
